Window of Illusion BBS is now running on a brand new Amiga One! Message base, file base, games, and chat are all much faster then in WinUAE. After months of waiting and preparing for this. It has finally come to pass. The fact that I was working on this was known only to a few people as "Operation: Holy Grail”. To my knowledge Window of Illusion is the very first up and running Cnet BBS system running on one of the new Amiga One computers.

Let me tell you how this all came together like a good plan. In June of 2004 a fellow in Germany contacted me. He wanted me to package up my BBS in a LHA file, and send it to him because he wanted to see if it would work on his new Amiga One for which he had just gotten a developer version of OS 4. After a few weeks of emailing back and forth he got the system up and running. He said it was fast, stable and that over the next month he would give it a stress test and get back to me.
In July I had almost forgotten about it when he emailed me back. He had gotten tired of trying to crash it. I guess there were a few problems with it but nothing really to be concerned about. He had opened 99 nodes, ran several AREXX and CNETC programs and was sure that the BBS would run off an Amiga One just fine. He suggested that I get one as soon as I could. Nobody else that he knew of was running a Cnet system yet on an Amiga One and that Window of Illusion had the ability to be the first.
In August with the money I had made from the Garage Sale in April and sales of old equipment on ebay. I set out to purchase the Amiga One, online at Software Hut. To my dismay the systems were back ordered till October. So I would have to wait until one came in.
Around the first of September, Software Hut being aware of what I was going to do. Contacted me and let me know that they were going to be getting 2 Amiga A1 systems from the manufacture. If I wanted one they would send it as soon as they got it. It was a hard choice because the system I ordered was a 933MHz G4 and the A1 is 800MHz G3 system. After doing some research I figured that A1 would be just as good and told them I would be interested.
October 13th 2004 I got the Amiga One from Software Hut via UPS 2 day shipping. I would have had it sooner but they were running into some trouble with the power supply not being able to run on North American power levels. That problem was all cleared up and so here we are. Window of Illusion has again evolved to meet the needs of its users. Check out the gallery posted here!
This is my gift to you, the users. You use the BBS like crazy to play games, post messages, and chat. You purchase merchandise off the web site then tell your friends and they login too. You send me some of the nicest feedback messages and emails about how much you like the system. This is my way of saying thank you. Window of Illusion will be around for a long time we aren’t going anyplace. I even am adding a dial up number to the BBS. Although it’s not connected yet the number will be 312-997-1974. Window of Illusion is will enter 2005 able to serve more of you faster and better.
