cnetbbs.net Under New Management

CNet Pro I couldn’t believe it, users, and friends couldn’t believe it when I told them. Sysops were shocked, and now I am telling all of you. Ray Akey the last developer to work on Amiga CNet Pro released the domain cnetbbs.net to none other then myself. I am here to tell you the site is live!

I know that I have been a very out spoken voice against Ray Akey. The things that I said were based on one premise. That Ray was the only developer and owner of CNet. That he alone created the current stagnate situation with CNet that now exists. If you read the news group alt.bbs.amiga.cnet you would read a nearly yearlong battle waged between Todd Knight and Ray Akey.

This battle seems to have been put in motion in the news group as a result of a story I posted last year on my site, which can be found here. I guess Ray saw it and took a look at the news group. I am glad he did, it cleared a lot of unknown issues that were out there.

As Ray has said to me, I was one of the last people to purchase the CNet software before Zenmetal went all to hell. In the months after I purchased it he had pretty much thru up his hands and said screw it. By the tone of the arguments I have seen in the news group. I have to believe the pressure from Todd was greater then that of others or myself demanding support. I can’t say I would have handled it any better, and now we are all grown up. All except Todd that is…

Despite several ideas given to him by others, and myself on things to do with CNet. Among pleas to just do something, anything with the software rather then let it rot on a hard drive. He has just continued to respond to every aspect of all posted messages. With his quick wit and big words.

Have I fueled this fire? No doubt in my mind I have. The cnetbbs.net site is now the new, non-static CNet BBS support site. This means you can post questions and interact with the site since it is based on the same web site structure that Window of Illusion’s Web Site is. It will become a database of solutions and fixes, to all of our CNet problems if we make it that. It will not become a battleground where news group fights will take over.

Why did Ray give the site away? Well if you read the original posts in the news groups you will see that he actually at first asked for $250.00 as he wanted to sell it. Having watched the news group for a long time and seeing this. I kind of spun out of control and with the intent of once again bashing Ray. I called him a money grubbing jerk, or something to that effect. Todd right away jumped on the subject, and as it turns out. Ray was only asking money to pay current legal fees for a case against Todd for slander in public. Ray gave the domain to me… maybe to make up like he said for his lack of support in the past. Maybe it was to piss Todd off, or maybe he knew I would make a kick ass support site out of it.
